Bio
Melanie Tappert was born and raised in Alaska. She attended University of Alaska Fairbanks where she graduated with a Bachelors in Metalsmithing and a Bachelors in Chemistry. After years of being primarily a self-taught artist/painter she joined the online Evolve art program to further enhance her technical oil painting ability. In 2023 she opened the Mat-Su Art Academy where she taught oil painting before closing up shop and making a move to Oklahoma.
Currently she resides in Oklahoma as an oil painting instructor, artist and member of the Bartlesville Art Association. She is currently building a body of work that explores classic techniques, fantasy themes incorporated into the everyday, and a series centered on the nostalgia of Alaska life.
